Balhousie Care Group is one of the largest private care providers in Scotland, with over 25 care homes for the elderly and vulnerable. SBP Creative worked with Balhousie's marketing team to revamp their website, as their existing site was failing to meet the needs of their care staff and clients in numerous ways.
For the new website to succeed, it was vital for visitors to be able to access information across Balhousie's care homes as easily as possible. It was also important for care home managers to be able to contribute to the site by posting news, updates and job vacancies to their individual care home hubs.
My involvement began early on in the website's development, following the agreement of a new and improved sitemap structure. I set to work creating the initial wireframes and prototypes that would provide the team at Balhousie with an early glimpse of the user experience.
Through the iterative feedback process that followed, the prototype gradually took shape. Advanced search fields were incorporated to provide easy access to Balhousie's care home hub pages, and the brand identity was expanded to allow for colour coding – assigning a different colour to each of the services Balhousie Care Group offers, which was reflected in the page layouts and tags.
The site was built using WordPress, which was leveraged further through additional advanced plugins and integrations to power their job board and care home hubs. The site launched in early 2020 and has been followed with regular updates to the site to provide clients and their families with information regarding COVID-19.
