Westport Vets – a small but well established local vet practice based in Linlithgow, West Lothian – approached SBP Creative in early 2016 to seek help with creating a new website that could help them stand out from larger chain practices in the area.
One of the main goals of the new website was to dispel any myths that the larger chains were more technologically advanced, had better emergency cover or offered better value for money.
Before starting work on the website, I began by updating the existing identity for digital use, cleaning up the logo mark and swapping in a fresh contemporary logotype.
This was followed by the development of a library of quirky illustrations to help set Westport Vets apart from their larger competitors, and give the practice a more open, friendly personality.
With the brand identity updated, I began work on restructuring the sitemap for better usability, before designing an interactive prototype, which was then finally built into a live website using Wordpress.
Following the launch of the new website, Westport Vets have dramatically increased their activity of blog posts and social sharing. This, in turn, has helped to advertise their services through word of mouth and attract more pet owners who would have typically gone direct to their larger competitors.
